The Seminoles, who were expected to make the 12-team playoff, would like to hit the reset button on their 2024 season.
Ranked No. 10 at the start of the year, Florida State suffered their second consecutive loss on Monday night, falling to the Boston College Eagles, 28-13.
Eagles running back Treshaun Ward had three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown, along with 77 rushing yards. Quarterback Thomas Castellanos threw for 106 yards, two touchdown passes, and added another rushing touchdown with 73 yards on the ground.
"I'm very proud of these guys," Boston College head coach Bill O’Brien said. "They were resilient tonight. To come down here against a team that really in their minds had to have this win, that’s a heck of a statement for BC. But it’s just one win."
Castellanos’ touchdown pass to Kye Robichaux put Boston College up 21-6 in the third quarter. Florida State narrowed the gap to within a touchdown and a 2-point conversion when D.J. Uiagalelei threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Kentron Poitier with 5:19 left.
However, Robichaux's 2-yard touchdown run sealed the victory for Boston College.
Uiagalelei completed 21 of 42 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown. The Seminoles managed only 21 rushing yards throughout the game.
Florida State, once considered a contender for the expanded College Football Playoff, now faces a significant setback after starting the season with two losses.
