Apple has launched the iPhone 16, featuring advanced AI capabilities and a dedicated camera button

At its “Glowtime” event in Cupertino, Apple unveiled the iPhone 16. CEO Tim Cook emphasized that the device is “designed around Apple Intelligence, from the ground up,” highlighting the generative AI features introduced at WWDC in June. The handset is made from “aerospace grade” aluminum.

The display features a 50% stronger ceramic shield to guard against scratches and drops. The new design also includes a dedicated camera button on the side for quick photo capturing.

The iPhone 16 is powered by Apple’s new 3 nm A18 chip, which includes an enhanced neural network tailored for the company’s generative AI models. The 6-core CPU, with four efficiency cores, is said to be “up to 30%” faster than the iPhone 15, while also being more power-efficient. The new GPU offers increased power and improves power efficiency by 35%.

Apple Intelligence was the centerpiece of the event, with the iPhone 16 series joining the iPhone 15 Pro models as the only devices capable of running the company’s new small model offering. This feature operates both offline on the device’s chips and via remote servers through the new Private Cloud Compute options.
