"There is no playbook for an emergency like this one," said L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn.
After power was cut to 140 homes on Sunday, residents of an additional 105 homes were informed they would also lose power starting Monday. Southern California Edison cited shifting land as the cause, posing a danger to electrical equipment.
"We notified an additional 105 customers that their power will be shut off as of Monday evening," said SoCal Edison spokesman Reggie Kumar. "This is due to the accelerated land movement causing damage to our electrical equipment, and we must turn off the power to keep everyone safe."
The new shutoffs will begin in the Seaview neighborhood around 7 p.m. Monday. Most will be temporary: 47 homes for 24 hours and another 38 for 1-3 weeks during repair and re-routing work. However, about 20 homes in the most damaged part of Seaview will lose power indefinitely¹²³.
