The incident occurred during the 2024/25 NFL season opener, which took place in Brazil as part of the league’s global initiative to grow the sport. The Eagles, who were Super Bowl runners-up in 2023, defeated the Packers 34-29 at the Corinthian Arena in Sao Paulo. However, the real drama unfolded when Love, valued at $220 million, went down injured in the latter stages of the match.
Fortunately, Love managed to recover and was even put back into the game with six seconds remaining to try to rescue the score for the Packers. Unfortunately, he was sacked again by Carter and Josh Sweat, resulting in a severe knee injury that could sideline him long-term.
While injuries are a part of the contact sport, some fans were far from understanding and sent Carter death threats. Carter revealed the threats by posting a photo of the messages on Instagram, captioning it, “Making a football play, wishing Jordan the best recovery!”
Among the abusive messages, at least nine were directed at Carter, with one even including racial slurs. Despite the hostility, Carter seems determined to rise above the noise and continue focusing on his game.
